Romania joined the European Union in 2007 and has good bilateral relations with Canada. The 2016 National Reform Program, reconfirmed the roadmap for achieving the Europe 2020 objectives for smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth. Romania's economy is highly trade dependent with strong import demand for machinery and equipment, fuels and minerals. On February 2015 the Romanian government approved the Master Transport Plan, projects belonging to the trans-European transport network TEN-T. The value for the road, rail, air, sea and multimodal sector amounts to EUR 45.41bln and construction will continue through to 2030.
