Business environment in Mexico

Mexico’s growing consumer class, favorable labor demographics and numerous free trade agreements make it a rich source of opportunity for Canadian businesses. Since the beginning of NAFTA in 1994, bilateral trade between Canada and Mexico has more than quadrupled. Furthermore, under its current government led by president Peña Nieto, Mexico has introduced major reforms with the goal of increasing competitiveness and economic growth. Among other benefits, the reforms have opened access of transmission and distribution systems to private players and have permitted private investment in the O&G sector through public auctions of exploration and development rights.
