Business environment in Belarus

Although highly dependent on economic relationship with Russia, Belarus is opening its trading relationships with the rest of Europe and the global economy. While there are signs of economic liberalization with market-oriented reforms, the sustainability of this remains uncertain. With arbitrary economic policy-making and a legacy of directed lending, Belarus has chronically under-performed with respect to economic potential. EDC’s view of the market remains cautious.
